I agree with almost everything you say here. Well i doubt that we will get any surprises. But Marion Cotillard is my "should" in Best Actress.

This writer obviously is obsessed with There Will Be Blood. I did not like that movie at all, despite the hype. No Country For Old Men "will" win and "should" win, no matter what this guy says.

You are probably correct on all your oicks. I used to care until this year. I am amazed that "The Kite Runner" is not up for more awards. That was an Oscar caliber movie. Also ruby Dee has no business being nominated for a 5 minute non-pivotal role in American Gangster. Why don't they make a category for all the old timers in maybe there last role. Let them fight it out for best performance by an old-timer. So, now I have no respect for the Oscars, they are as political a device as I have ever seen. Danial Dey Lewis great performance horrible movie. No Country for Old Men Javier deserves award as do the Coen brothers but what about Josh Brolin?
I am beside myself over these nominations and will not be watchingceremony.
I think I will watch Tresure of the Sierra Madre, a real winner.

This will be the Coen Brothers' year, particularly to make up for "Fargo" losing out to that drearfest "The English Patient." So yes, I see awards for Picture, Director, Supporting Actor, Adapted Screenplay, and, quite possibly, Editing (and if it wins the Editing award, it will be a shoo-in for BP).

Ruby Dee may be this year's Beatrice Straight. Stranger things have happened...

Here's hoping that Laura Linney, a very fine actress, doesn't turn out to be another Glenn Close.

I'm sorry animated voice rolls are never nominated. Peter O'Toole would have been a shoo-in for "Ratatoillle."

A very good year for movies, one of the best, I think, in recent memory.
