I swear I was in shock after the credits. I expected it'd be good, but I never saw that coming. This is without a doubt the best comic movie yet.

The movie sounds great, I was an Iron Man comic fan way back before it was fashionable. However, when I read a review and the say, quote: "All in all, a fine introduction to a hero that finally dares to tackle weight-of-the-world issues. It’s about time." I can't help but fret that it's just more liberal back-handed propaganda to show what a-holes we are for fighting terrorism (read-- more reason to hate Bush and not the Jihadids) than a bona-fide classic adventure yarn.

Mark - Did you see the movie? If someone who actually watched this movie got *that* message (people "look like a-holes" for fighting terrorism) out of it, I would wonder if we'd watched the same movie. The film tackles some heavy issues, true, but not in a way that feels like some heavy-handed commentary on current world affairs. It's not as simplistic as "war=bad, weapons=bad" at all. I think you should watch it before making accusations that it is some sort of "propaganda." If you feel that way after, then we can talk - I'd be interested to hear how someone could have gotten that message from it. Until then, it seems you're jumping the gun a bit.

I was fairly disappointed by the lack of development of Bridges' character. If you want to compare it to a comic movie, look at Spiderman 2 where Molina plays an amazing Dr. Octopus and then the lacking portrayal here. Other than that, I think Downey did a great job and it should be mandatory viewing for anyone who ever liked comics ever.
