Well said Mark.

Bad Lieutenant cannot be matched through a remake. Ferrara created a gritty masterpiece (many may disagree but I think it does deserve this accolade) and Kietel gave perhaps his deepest performance ever.

I highly rate Herzog, but cannot see this as anything but a bad idea.

I say any early Larry Cohen/Michael Moriarty effort is prime remake material for Cage. Good call, Mark!

Hi, I read this post in may, but i was ranting so bad that i didn't bother to leave a comment.

Now, I've Heard some news about Mr. Ferrara saying this (when hearing about the remake): "I wish these people die in Hell. I hope they’re all in the same streetcar, and it blows up.”

Then in an interview with Defamer he said: “I have no idea who Abel Ferrara is. I don't feel like doing an homage to Abel Ferrara because I don't know what he did — I've never seen a film by him. I have no idea who he is. Is he Italian? Is he French? Who is he?"

So, It would be wonderful if you could post your thoughts on this.

This is where i read the mentioned interview:
