When it comes to the entertainment industry, few publications have as much clout as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter… but could it be that the days of these highly-respected Tinseltown giants are numbered?

Much like the standard newspaper is becoming obsolete as news hounds turn towards the internet for their daily fix, it would appear as if movie blogs such as Latino Review, Ain’t It Cool, and Twitch are slowly but surely edging in on territory that would have previously been the exclusive domain of such giants as the aforementioned trade magazines. Perhaps nowhere is this more evident than in a story just published by Latino Review writer Kellvin Chavez. According to Chavez neither Variety nor The Hollywood Reporter are giving credit where credit is due, and whether that’s an intentional decision or pure coincidence, it appears as though this curious oversight could come back to haunt them in the end.
